What do I do if I left something behind when I left?

Contact the property owner or housekeeper directly - they handle all cleaning and lost property for the cottage.

Steps to Recover Your Item:

Step 1: Contact the Property Owner/Housekeeper Your arrival instructions email (titled "Arrival Information for Your Stay") contains the contact details for:

  • The property owner
  • The housekeeper/cleaning team

Call, text, or email them directly as they're best placed to check if your item has been found during cleaning.


Step 2: Provide Clear Details When contacting them, include:

  • Your name and booking dates
  • Description of the lost item
  • Where you think you left it in the property
  • Your preferred contact method


Step 3: If You Don't Hear Back If the owner or housekeeper doesn't respond within 2-3 days, email us at stay@thebestofexmoor.co.uk and we'll contact them on your behalf.

Important Notes

  • Act quickly - the sooner you report it, the better chance of recovery
  • The Best of Exmoor doesn't handle cleaning or manage lost property directly
  • Items are typically kept for a reasonable period, but this varies by property
  • Return postage costs are usually the responsibility of the guest

Can't Find Your Arrival Email?

If you've deleted the email with the owner's contact details, email us at stay@thebestofexmoor.co.uk with your booking reference and we'll provide the contact information.
